Dear Ms. Welker,

Blogging has been a very good opportunity. Blogging has taught me a lot about computers and it was very beneficial. It has helped me be more relaxed and my hands won’t hurt so much. It has been way more fun to blog than to do a home reading sheet. I love typing so this wasn’t boring.                                                             Well, blogging has also been a little hard. Once when I was blogging, I tried to publish and it deleted everything I did. I was so mad. Another thing is that you need to figure out all these keys and stuff. It can be difficult. If you don’t do the keys right you could end up not getting to do your homework.

So my thoughts about blogging are pretty good. I thought blogging was fun and that it would be nice to do it again. Also blogging has been the best way to do home reading to me. I really have been learning a lot and I can use my blog to post stuff about my summer vacation. Then you and other people from the class can see.  Although Blogging can be fun it is also very challenging and hard. So to conclude blogging is fun but hard and it is a good way for parents to see what we are doing.

                     Sincerely,

                     Ana I.

Penny from heaven The song #1

Dear Ms. Welker,

I’m reading Penny from Heaven by Jennifer L. Holm. I think this book is about a girl who is a very special gift to the parents. I think this because of the title. It makes me think that something is special.

My prediction was wrong! It wasn’t about a girl who is very special to the parents. It was about a girl named penny, which’s father died and her mom started dating the milkman. She thought her life was miserable.  I had trouble with a word when I read this.  The word is chrome. I read around and read on and inferred that it was like the rims of a car.  So Penny’s cousin Frankie says he wants to be criminal like his dad. I think that’s a bad idea. Also I had a question when I read.  Why did Frankie want to be a criminal? When I read around I found out that he thought it would be cool. That is a bad idea.  Penny’s mother didn’t tell penny that she was dating the milkman. Penny then saw her one-day in a lemon yellow strapless dress. She asked her where she was going. Then she said Mr. Mulligan asked her out. Also I had a question. My question is that why did penny’s mother didn’t tell her that she was dating the milkman?  It took me a while to find the answer to that question but I finally found it. The answer is that she was afraid that penny would get mad. I would be mad too if I was in that situation. So to conclude Penny is so miserable and she wishes it would be better.                                                                                                             Sincerely,

                                                            Ana I.

Royal Little princess#3

Dear Ms. Welker,
I am starting chapter 9 in my book. My prediction is that Molly’s old cat, Mr. Tibbs will escape from Leslie and Toby, and go to Molly. I think this because of the title of chapter 9. The title of chapter 9 is “Mr. Tibbs escapes again”. Also I had a question before I read. My question is that how did Mr. Tibbs escape? When I read, I found the answer to my question. The answer is that Mr. Tibbs escaped from an opening in Leslie’s attic. By the way, Leslie is the person who is looking for molly.
My prediction was right! Mr. Tibbs did escape and went to Molly. Molly was so sad because Ms. Thacker called her in to her office that day and, she showed her a lady that worked with foster care. She told her that she would have to go to foster care. When it was finished, she went up to her room and cried. She didn’t want to go to foster care and she wanted to stay with her friends. I also had a question. Why didn’t molly just ask her friends to ask their parents if she could stay with them? I read around and found out the answer. She didn’t want her friends to bring someone their parents didn’t know and, she didn’t want to barge in when they had problems of their own. I still can’t believe Ms. Thacker would do that. She is so mean! The day after Mr. Tibbs escaped, he found molly in the attic that she lived in. When molly saw Mr. Tibbs she was so glad to see him. Along the way I had trouble with the word terminated. I tried to read around and read on but I couldn’t find the answer so I went to answers.com and it meant to come to an end. Molly knew where he lived so she took him back. She didn’t know that where Mr. Tibbs lived was where Leslie lived. When she got there, she gave the cat back. She saw him play with the editing the machines. I had a question when I read this part. How does she know what editing machines are? When I read on I found out that the answer is her father worked with them. Leslie then figured out that she was the one she was looking for and that she found her. Ms. Thacker came over and she wanted to take her but she couldn’t. Then molly stayed with Leslie and that was the end of my book. So to conclude this book was really good and Molly got a happily ever after.
Sincerely,
Ana I.

Royal Little princess#2

Dear Ms Welker,

I’m reading a little princess by Gabrielle Charbonnet. I am on chapter 5 in my book. My prediction is that Molly is going to have a really bad day and that she is going to get so mad and she will start working harder. I think this, because of the title of the chapter that I am starting. The title of the chapter is “the worst day”.

In the last blog I said that Molly ran away, well in this blog it will be about after spring fling and what Ms. Thacker is going to do with Molly. Anyhow, my prediction was right! Molly did have a hard day. Molly looked so bad that people gave her money, because she looked homeless. I wish I could get money as quickly as Molly did. Also I had a thought. My thought is it was really nice of molly to give that homeless person with a baby that food. I had a question after this thought. My question is why did molly give the homeless person that food? When I read on, I found out that she felt sorry for that person and that she could eat dinner with her friends. I think that’s a smart thing to do. Also I had trouble with a word gritty. I read around and inferred that it meant like the stuff on your eyes when you wake up. That‘s really gross!!! The next day Molly’s room was remodeled. I had a question later on. My question was that who was this person doing this and, why are they doing it. When I read around, I found out it was these people who were looking for her. They didn’t know it was the girl they were looking for. The person who remodeled molly’s room gave her a gift certificate for gap. That’s a really nice thing to do. So to conclude I think molly might actually make it, because of all the stuff her secret friend gave her.
Sincerely
Ana I.

Royal Little princess#1

Dear Ms Welker,

I'm Reading a book called Little Princess. I'm going to read and do a post every 4 chapters. So, my prediction is that this book is about a girl who is like a princess. I think this because of the title and the cover page picture.
My prediction was right! It was about a girl who was treated like a princess. Her name is Molly. Her father died and now she has to live like a charity student in Glenmore, which is her school. I feel very sad for molly.
When I read I had trouble with the word lulled. I read around and found the answer; well I kind of inferred it. It meant to be pushed around or kind of pulled.
Molly was so sick of Glenmore because of the principal, Ms Thacker; she was being really unreasonably mean with her. So, she tried to run away. I would do that too if I were her. I also had a question: why did she think that run away was a good idea and then after she did it, she change her mind and thought that run away was a bad idea. Well, when I read on I found out that she thought her life will be easy, but later on she found that it was harder.
There is this thing called the spring fling in Glenmore and Ms Thacker said molly had to wear a dress or a skirt. She knew that molly didn't have any of those things. I think that was really mean. Then I had trouble with the word nonchalant. I tried to read around but that didn't work, so I went on answers.com and it meant a careless manner. So, to conclude molly is having a really hard time and she needs all the help she can get because Ms Thacker will make her life miserable for ever.
Sincerely,
Ana I.

Too Many Pumpkins/ Literally#1

Dear Ms Welker,
I'm reading a book called too many pumpkins by Linda White. I predict that this book will be about a Woman who planted too many pumpkins. I predict this because of the picture on the title page.

My Prediction was right and wrong yes it was about growing too many pumpkins but she didn't plant them a pumpkin truck came by and a pumpkin fell. In fact she actually hated pumpkins and she didn't want pumpkins. So when I read I came across a hard word. The hard word was rutabagas I tried to read around but there was no clues so I went on answers.com and found out that it meant an edible root of this plant that I don't know. So when I read a part I thought that you shouldn't hate something just because you didn't have anything else. I also had a question. My question is that why did she just leave the the pumpkins and expect them to not grow? Then I read on and found out that There were tons of pumpkins because she just left them there and I found the answer to my question. The answer is that she tought that if she didn't tend them and water them they would die . So to conclude what I read ythe woman learned a lesson. The lesson was that she shouldn't hate something because she had too much of something( Also she kept seeds for the next year).

Sincerely,

Ana I .

Prehistoric times #1

Dear Ms. Welker,
I'm reading Prehistoric Worlds. I predict that this book is going to be about back in time and dinosaurs. I think this because the Dinos were alive in the prehistoric times. Also I think That prehistoric times are really cool.
My prediction was right but it was also about rocks and minerals.  So after I read I had trouble with the word Galena. Then I read on and found out it is an ore mineral that is found in lead. Also my favorite type of rock is Igneous. I like it because I like crystals and igneous contains crystals some times so that is why I like igneous. When I read more I had a question. My question is What are the the inner layers? I did study rocks in school but we didn't talk about the inner layers. So I read around and found out that there are four layers. the four layers are the crust, mantle, outer core, inner core. I really like learning about the earth its so cool. So I also had a connection sort of. Well I watched a movie called Journey To The Center Of The Earth and they found the center which is the inner core and in this book they are talking about the inner core. So when I read the dinosaur part I thought about the ride Jurassic park in universal. The dinosaurs actually kind of scare me a little bit. My favorite dinosaur is the triceratops. My most hated dinosaur is the tyrannosaurus rex. I really don't like it because they are meat eaters and can even eat people and I like the triceratops because it is a plant eater and doesn't eat people unlike the tyrannosaurus rex ( I think my dad like the tyrannosaurus rex and I don't get why). So to conclude on what I read read the prehistoric times were really cool and when arceologists dig up things from the past we can learn more about the prehistoric times.

Sad story / titanic#1

Dear Ms Welker,
First of all this book is a short book so there is only one post.
So my prediction is that this boat is going to sink. I think this because of the title picture. Also I had a question about this book.  Are all the people going to survive when it sinks?
My prediction was right. It was about the titanic sinking. Also I got the answer to my question. The answer is that not all the people survived. Its actually quite the opposite. More than 1,500 people lost their lives. It's really sad. Also I had trouble with this writing that was on my book. It is RMS. I asked my dad but he didn't know so I tried to figure it out myself. Finally the answer came across me. What it stands for is Really Magnificent Ship. Now I don't think it was magnificent when it sank but I will infer that they where talking about before it sank. Also I had a question Why did they say that even God couldn't sink that ship? Well I tried to read around and I found the answer. So the answer is that since it was so big they thought nothing could damage it. Honestly I think that saying that was unreasonable. Also when after the titanic sank experts and witnesses tried to figure out why a lot of people lost their lives. I think that that was a good idea. Also they passed new laws that all ships had to have enough life boats to seat all their passengers, ships radios have to be on 24/7 , and Ice patrols were introduced. They did this to make sure that such a disaster would never happen again. I am happy about that. So to conclude what I read about the Titanic it was really sad and they could have prevented that accident.

island of the blue dolphins / survival#2

Dear Ms Welker,

I have been reading Island Of The Blue Dolphins by Scott O'Dell. My prediction for the next few chapters is that she is going to go to a new land. I think this because based on the other chapters there is a boat that is going to take them to the land where kimki the chief is.
My prediction was wrong. Karana jumped from the boat because her brother was left behind when he went to get his fishing spear. So after I read I thought that karana did a good thing and that she will be very good with her brother. I have a connection to what I read. My connection is that karana had to drop her yucca fiber skirt for her brother when she was swimming to shore. So when my sister was sick I had to go home during my favorite subject science. Also I  had a question.  What are abalones? Then I went on answers.com and I found out that it is a mollusk and it feeds on algae. Then I had another  question. Why did the wild dogs eat ramo. Unfortunately I tried to find the answer but I couldn't find it. So as you can see this is a hard situation for Karana and I hope she can get through it. I meant since her brother ramo  got killed. I feel really sorry about that.

Island of the blue dolphins / survival#1

Dear Ms. Welker,

I am reading Island of the blue dolphins by Scott O'Dell. I choose this book because when I was in third grade I had to read award winning books and sunshine state books. So I went to the library and they showed me a list of books, I could choose so since I liked dolphins I choose the book Island of the blue dolphin. So I think the first seven chapters are going to be about about how the island is and who lives on it. I think this because just reading the title makes me think that it is going to be about what I said in my prediction.

My prediction came true but in the 2nd chapter. So after I read I had a question. Why did the father die? I tried to find the answer but it didn't work so I inferred that the English dude got his pocket knife and and stabbed the father of this girl named karana and cut his mouth too. Any how I had trouble with the word Aleuts. so I asked my dad and he said it was a name of a city. So I think that karana is a good person and that she will grow up to be a good women. I also think that survival skills are good so karana is prepared. When I read some more I had another question. How did the town Ghalas-at know all those survival skills? I found the answer when I read around. So the answer was their ancestors.

Fira the fairy / light talent fairy #1

Dear Ms. Welker,

I'm reading fira and the full moon by Gail Herman. I predict that it will be about fira and what happens to her when the full moon comes. I think this because I read the back and at the end it said will the full moon be fira's darkest hour. Also I had a question and a connection. I watch a show called h2o and it is about these girls that are mermaids and when the full moon comes up and if they see the light then they will have bad luck. That's what it says on the back on the book about fira but not about the light thing.

My prediction was wrong, it was about what happened to her that specific full moon. So now that I have read a part I had a question. My question is why did the light talents have to be so mischievous? when i read on i found the answer to my question. The answer was that they were new and they didn't know what to do and they were always competing against each other. Also i had trouble with the word smock. I looked on answers.com and the meaning is a loose coat like outer garment often wore to protect clothes while working. I really like these books and they all have problems. So to conlclude what i read fira is having a lot of problems with the triplets and the lighting in pixie hollow.

Land of Eternal Spring # 1

Dear Ms. Welker,

I have been reading Guatemala by Tricia Haynes. Besides the fact that it's about the country I think this book will be about Guatemala's history and society. I think this because I look at the cover and there was a picture of a Guatemalan woman with typical clothes so that made me infer that. Also I think it is good to learn about your own country.

My prediction was right! So now that I have read I had wow moment. I didn't know that Guatemala was the 3rd largest country in Central America. Also I had a question. My question is that why did Guatemala choose the quetzal as their national bird? I had a little difficulty figuring that question out so I ask my dad but he didn't know the answer either. I also had trouble with the word exports I had to ask my dad about that one too because I had a lot of trouble with it. He said it meant that a country grows some thing and then ships it to another country. I think this book really puts in details so it is really good. So to conclude what I read I think that this book was good for blogging and that Guatemala will always be a land of eternal spring.

Sincerely,

Ana#4

Smart Matilda # 1

Dear Ms. Welker,

I've been reading Matilda by Rohald Dahl. I predicted that this book is about a little girl that beats a BIG strong grown up who's name is the trunch bull. That's a pretty scary name. I thought this because I read the back and gave it some thought. Also I had question before I started reading. My question is what did the truch bull have to do with Matilda?

My prediction was right! It was about matilda beating the trunch bull. So after I read a part I had another question. Why did Matilda's parents always want her to watch the telly. Also I had trouble with the word telly so I searched my schema and i figured out that it was just a fancy word for T.V. When I read on I figured out the answer to the first question. The anwser is that the trunch bull was the head mistress at Matilda's school. AKA principal.I also thought that Matilda's parents were mean. I think this because they call her names like stupid, a wart, pain in the neck etc. I feel really sorry for Matilda, but on the other hand she has extrodinary brains. She can multiply numbers like 226*78 almost instantly. She's really smart. So to conclude what I read Matilda is having trouble with her parents, but she is really smart so I think she can find a way to get back at ehr parents.
Sincerely,

idab'sadventures2

Dear Ms Welker,
I am reading Ida B and her plans to maximize fun avoid disaster and (possibly)save the world.I am on chapter 30 and I predCheck Spellingict that Ida B 's life will be better than it was before. But I am still wondering if I'm right!
This is after I read. So I wonder why the author used the simile apologizing was like spring cleaning. I feel this book is good because I can really picture this in my head. It is also really emotional. Ida B is getting better at being nice. Why does Ida B talk to the trees? The answer to my question is that they were her only friends when she was little.I think that Ida B has her own village of trees that she can talk to and that is really cool. Also why did Ida B want to hurt the old tree. The answer to my question is she was REALLY mad! Finally I had trouble with the word Calamity. I asked my dad and he said that it meant really really bad things happening all over. I can predict from that word that she wasn't happy.

so she got really mad at them and she hated school. But her mom and dad
made her go back to school. She went to school 4 years ago.I had trouble with
the word bladdered. I asked my dad and he said it means blown up.
