Land of Eternal Spring # 1

Dear Ms. Welker,

I have been reading Guatemala by Tricia Haynes. Besides the fact that it's about the country I think this book will be about Guatemala's history and society. I think this because I look at the cover and there was a picture of a Guatemalan woman with typical clothes so that made me infer that. Also I think it is good to learn about your own country.

My prediction was right! So now that I have read I had wow moment. I didn't know that Guatemala was the 3rd largest country in Central America. Also I had a question. My question is that why did Guatemala choose the quetzal as their national bird? I had a little difficulty figuring that question out so I ask my dad but he didn't know the answer either. I also had trouble with the word exports I had to ask my dad about that one too because I had a lot of trouble with it. He said it meant that a country grows some thing and then ships it to another country. I think this book really puts in details so it is really good. So to conclude what I read I think that this book was good for blogging and that Guatemala will always be a land of eternal spring.

Sincerely,

Ana#4

  1. Ana,

You're the first person to blog about a non-fiction book! I would like to see you tell me something about what you learned. Also, if you don't know the answer to your question, you can infer an answer. I would also like to see you ask more than one question. I know you are a great reader and you think a lot when you read, so I should see evidence of that in your blog!
